The strange tracks of this large armadillo usually show 3 large toes in the hind foot and 2-3 claw marks from the front foot.  The hind foot is flat on the ground and the marks from the front foot usually are located just in front of the hind track.

 

    Tapir tracks are similar size and shape however have larger, more rounded toes, with 3-4 toes showing in the front track and 3 toes showing in the hind track.
