Tracks:
Coati tracks usually show 5 toes in the front and hind feet.  The toes may appear slender and the tracks can somewhat resemble a human hand.    The claws on the front feet are very long.  The toes in white-nosed coati (Nasua narica) are fused together and cannot splay.  The South American coati may have a similar foot structure.

Similar tracks:
The crab-eating raccoon (Procyon cancrivorus) has similar tracks except they have longer, more slender toes, short claws, the toes can splay, and the tracks may be smaller.  Similar sized mustelid tracks have shorter, rounder toes, short claws, and the toes can splay.

Notes:
We have few known photographs of the tracks of this species.  If you have any information or photos of known species, please contact us.
